Station Motif
Fish scale pattern
This pattern is comprised of interconnected triangles that look like fish scales and is often used on costumes in Noh and Kabuki theatre.
The "Three Scales" pattern is also well known as the family crest of the Hojo clan. According to the Taiheiki, the origins of the pattern come from the first regent of the Kamakura shogunate Hojo Tokimasa (1138-1215) receiving an oracle from a giant serpent when praying at the Benzaiten shrine in Enoshima.
