This exhibition hall was developed by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote small and medium-sized enterprises in Tokyo as a replacement for the Ariake Gymnastics Stadium, which was used for the 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The name expresses the name of the location "Ariake," "GYM" for "gymnastics" as it used to be a gymnastics stadium, and "EX" for "exhibition.
The three-story building has a site area of approximately 36,500 m2, a building area of approximately 17,200 m2, and a total floor area of approximately 27,400 m2 (total of the first through third floors). The exhibition area is approximately 9,400 m2 (1st floor: approx. 79 x 119 m).
As an exhibition hall, various events are held every month.
